Foreign: I, too, believe that we’ve misused this word to alienate us from that which is familiar to us and that which is foreign.  Sometimes it’s used with such a sting to almost demonize that which is different.  The photos I’ve chosen for this week’s challenge is to highlight the foreign use of transporting items on one’s head.

  3. Honestly, images like this humbles me. It reminds me that others out there can’t even have the basic comforts in life. In America, everything seems to be in excess yet a lot of people still complain. I went home this year in the Philippines and I saw a similar scene in your pictures at the rural areas. I told me son, ” Not everyone have what you have and we should be grateful everyday for our blessings. That we need to help those who needs them the most.” Great post.

    • Yes! This is why I love international travel and strongly believe we need to expose more of our country’s youth to it prior to them graduating high school. We do live in a bubble. Increasingly, our news programs don’t cover international issues or regions except those that are war-ravaged.
Tell me more about the Philippines? Do you still have a lot of family there?
